How is this for a start to a feature article/opinion piece? The release of Bill Henson’s latest exhibition, featuring nude children, has spiked many controversial issues. One of the main problems that have arose is whether parents should have the right to permit their children to be publicly displayed au naturel. In other words: do parents prerogative to allow their children to be exploited and humiliated in front of millions? Please help me improve it in anyway i can. thank you!
What do you do to find out latest events in your neighborhood? like concerts, venues, shows, exhibitions etc. (could be a site you visit often, newspaper, or even facebook or myspace group) I use http://www.ticketmaster.com to track concerts. For other events I mainly rely on local newspaper, Local TV Channel, and of course subscribed blogs of people from my neighborhood. Once in a while I also use the social event tracking sites to get more details on the event I already know of. How do I get a top NY gallery to look at the work of an established artist new to the NYC art scene? I know an older gentleman who is a well-known contemporary expretionist/surrealist in his native country where he frequently holds exhibitions (he had his first show in the late 1940s when he was just a teen ager!). This talented man is also an amazing poet. He deserves to be recognized by his peers in the city he's been calling his home for the last 30 years: NYC. It would be a tremendous pity if no one outside his native land saw this artist's work. Any constructive suggestions?

Is the "My" more important than "Space"? I joined MySpace last year full of enthusiasm and interest. I expected that I would make some new, genuine friends who shared my love of art and music. A year later, I find that more than 95% of those who request my friendship or accept my request, have absolutely no interest whatsoever in anything but themselves. They send bulletins about their new CD or their latest exhibition but couldn't care less if I am alive or dead. Is your MySpace experience similar or is it much better?
went to a musuem today and saw one of my relatives on a photo? it was a tempory exhibition about a shop called Busbys in bradford , and my late auntie was on one of the photographs in the record dept , then i noticed her daughter (my cousin) was also on the photo !! have you ever had a similar experience? i told the chap at the desk and he is going to get me a copy of the photo. may give the names actually. good idea

Is it time to ban The Hurricane for life? Alex Higgins has too often attacked officials and referees. It is mostly verbal but other times it is physical as was his latest attack on a referee. These prima donnas need to be held in check but snooker administrators in the past have acted as lily livered cowards and turned a blind eye towards players like Higgins. Maybe another scandal is what snooker needs but make it involve someone rather than an old hasbeen nearing pension age. If players like Jimmy White keep inviting bad news to exhibition matches then put a heavy penalty on him. why should Ronnie be taken to task. Is he a soft touch who would take it whereas Higgy would have a tank full and a snort and get stuck in with his full six stones. Better still why not bring him into the Rules committee and join the other Dinosaurs who need a jolt into reality. Steve Davis and Willie Thorne are two exceptional snooker gentlemen who might have a remedy for wayward past masters. Why not ask them.

Do you ever think that you should have tried drugs. And think that you? have missed out something in life? I remember being invited to dinner by some friends and really enjoyed the chicken pie. However, I could not understand why everyone was laughing at me. I was making a real exhibition of myself and could not stop laughing and rolling on the floor. Later I can remember being very remorse and down. I evetually found out that my friend had put magic mushrooms in the chicken pie. I will always remember how unhappy I felt and the tears and sadness.. And so I can never understand why people want to put themselves through this torture for a few moments of Euphoria. I admitted to mention that this was years ago and I have brought up a family since. I consider myself lucky that none of my children have been tempted and that I am very lucky too in the respect that I have an addictive personality and could have easily been dragged into the drug scene. I was told after that I should never induldge because of my addictive personality personality as mushroom are the worse possible drug to take when afflicated with this sort of personality. I take your point about hanging out with people who take drugs. However, how are you expected to know when this person and his wife put on a respectable front and he is now one of Scotlands respected novelist. Just shows that you can't judge a book by the cover.

Perilous Times and Decaying Morality * * UK Sex trade moves its modern-day slaves into the suburbs* By David Harrison, Sunday Telegraph Last Updated: 12:25am GMT 18/02/2007 Criminal gangs are moving sex slaves out of brothels and into private houses in an attempt to take the trade "underground" and avoid discovery by the police. Senior officers are finding an "alarming" number of young women, mostly east Europeans aged 18 to 25, held captive in privately owned flats and houses and forced to have sex with up to 30 "clients" a day. The gangs are moving hundreds of women out of the "overt" sex industry - massage parlours and other brothels - and into the "covert" industry, because it is more lucrative, to increase their control over the victims, and to make it more difficult for police to find them. Graeme Maxwell, Yorkshire police's deputy chief constable and programme director for the UK Human Trafficking Centre, said: "The traffickers and pimps are taking the girls to rented flats and houses in areas all over the UK where there is a transient population and neighbours don't really notice when people move in and out." Mr Maxwell said the gangs were "ruthless criminals determined to protect their income from exploiting and abusing young women". The key to finding the criminals and rescuing the women was "local intelligence", he said. Beat officers were working to win the trust of communities and give people the confidence to inform police if they suspected girls were being held against their will. The trafficked women, most of whom are lured to Britain with false promises of jobs as waitresses or au pairs and are routinely beaten and raped, had been found in rented homes in city centres, including Birmingham, London and Sheffield, but also in "leafy suburbs". D S Steve Titterton, the trafficking centre's tactical adviser, said: "We are finding girls being kept in 'studentland' and other 'bedsit' areas but also in buy-to-let accommodation in smart residential areas where the neighbours are used to a high turnover of tenants." One Ukrainian woman told The Sunday Telegraph last week that she was duped into coming to Britain on the promise of a job selling ice cream in London. Instead Tatanya, 25, was taken to a flat in a north London suburb where she was forced to work as a prostitute from 10am to 10pm every day and to hand over all of the money to two Albanians, a man and a woman, towards the £20,000 "cost" of bringing her to England. Tatanya escaped by jumping from a second-floor window. She went to the police and, despite death threats to her family in Ukraine, gave evidence that helped to convict her captors who were jailed for a total of 25 years. Police believe the traffickers are going "underground", in part as a response to Operation Pentameter, a three-month police crackdown last year in which 232 suspected traffickers were arrested and 84 women rescued in nationwide raids on brothels. Pentameter II, a joint operation with several other European countries, is to be launched later this year. Thousands of young women - mostly from eastern Europe - are trafficked to Britain every year and forced into prostitution, a phenomenon blamed on European Union expansion, lax immigration controls and the UK's growing sex industry. Concern over the traffickers' changing tactics comes before a photographic exhibition on human trafficking which opens at St Paul's Cathedral in London this week. im hanging by a thread. i dont know what to do about this indian culture.? im 22. yr old girl. my dad died when i was 14. since then i developed anxiety disoeder. my family doenst know, except my sister in law, but she doent tkae me seriously. and when things go wrong i panic, stress, cant sleep, sometimes comfort eat, drink etc i live at home with my mother. my older sis is married and lives an hr away and bro moved to canada 2yrs ago. i just recently finished uni with an art degree.in the 1st and 2nd yer i didnt go out much. i wasnt allowed to go out too much, maybe a once a month and sometimes zero times a month. in the 3rd year i went out a little more. i wanted to go out before i regretted it. and therefore i made a little stand for my right. after all my sis and bro used to go out all the time. but sometimes i had to,i had to set up my work for exhibition, so i stayed late in studios, then we had two private view nights and an after party. ofcouse i wanted to go and be there. its what i had worked for. and ina heated argument my sis stold me That her husband and my brother where having a conversation about me and throught that because i have been ‘going out a lot’ because I have a ‘white bf.’. But I don’t. and my bro was thinking at the time to get some one to spy on me, see what I get up to. This is killing me. im so paranoid and unhappy. This all made more sense to me when, my sis told a lot of people in a wedding that we were looking for an Indian boy to get me married to. They think I want to marry a white guy. How long does it typically take sucessful artists to establish themselves? I don't mean freaks of nature who are supposed to be the latest great thing at 21. For normal artists, how long is it supposed to take? I feel like I've been struggling for a long time, well in my 20's I showed my paintings in cafes while getting sidetracked by other things because I thought I should have a more normal career, then in the last eight years I moved to a community where there are more opportunities for artists and really focused on my painting more. I've become somewhat of a fixture in local arts festivals and show regularly in certain places, like a gift store- yeah big deal. I've only had a few solo exhibitions and zero exhibitions in publicly funded galleries, in fact I'm ready to give up on them. At 38 I always thought I would have a more established career and maybe be making a living at it by now. I do have profits but it's just peanuts really. I'm wondering if it's realistic to think things could get a lot better.
Here is one that might be of interest .? A van is parked in front of the property for several hours along the roadside. Windows are covered with material. My landlord has a husband that is constantly stoned and generally worthless. He won’t check so she goes out and confronts the man. He says he is a PI. She goes in and calls the police which is what she should have done to start. She has a 13 year old daughter and is very nervous. An hour later the police come, are witnessed talking to the man and moments later he drives away. The police say nothing to the landlord and drive away themselves. She believes he was not who he said he was or would have been allowed to remain. End of incident. The following Sunday the van reappears and is parked similarly. The landlord calls me in a panic and says the police failed to get rid of this guy and he’s back. She sounds terrified. So I take a 7.62 Tokrov in a nylon holster and try to clip it to my side. The belt clip is too tight and will not spread enough to attach it so I hold it like a sandwich, hand not even on the handle. The pistol is not loaded, I know this but just want the psychological “edge” in case this man has any stupid ideas. I’m too old to fight and am concerned that the man is 51-50. He’s been warned by the police already. As a firefighter/medic I have dealt with many such cases in absence of law enforcement due to late arrivals and so on. I lived in a rural mountain area where response time was extended and the fire dept had to deal with many situations until police arrived. From that experience, I know not to at least appear to have the upper hand, and control factors in my favor. So I approach the vehicle, motion for the driver to roll down his window and say, “It’s time for you to leave.” He nodded and complied. The pistol was never raised nor gripped as intended for use. The man turned out to be a legitimate P.I. and screamed bloody murder to the police. I explained the circumstances and they left. They returned a bit later and said the PI was insisting on my arrest and arrested me for exhibition of a firearm. The PI and his company took no responsibility for causing panic by appearing as a stalker. The police took no responsibility for not putting our concerns to rest by informing us the man had a legitimate right to be there and not to worry. (By the way, the PI was investigating a workman’s comp case on an individual on an adjacent property.) I ultimately took the entire responsibility for everyone, including my stupidity, however well intended, to the tune of nearly $7,000.00 in legal fees few hrs in Jail, 2 years probation, a $1,055 fine and nerve damage to my right wrist caused by handcuffs. Fingers went numb while cuffed for an hour or so and occasionally do so to this day. The lesson I took away from this is no matter how justified, you can become a victim of the system. You are not permitted to protect yourself or your friends and loved ones You must let the police do it if they can… in time. So, there are a few questions. Was I utterly wrong and caused enough damage to cause me (deserve) so much mental distress and financial hardship? Was the punishment befitting the crime, if indeed a crime was committed? I have always tried to conduct myself in an ethical and exemplary fashion. I many times over have put my life on the line in the service of others and always thought of myself as one of the good guys. To be treated as a criminal really caved me in. One little ooops in the eyes of the courts seems to have cancelled a lifetime of atta-boys. I welcome your opinions. I’m done whining now LOL

A sensitive colleague might like me. I just want to be friends with him. What to do? My colleague is a male, single, in his 50s. I'm in my late 20s. He's an expat in my office, liked by other colleagues for his nice & culturally-sensitive attitude. Sometimes he's even more sensitive than the locals. His full name was Muhammad ibn [son of] ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Abd al-Muttalib ibn Haashim ibn ‘Abd Manaaf ibn Qusayy ibn Kilaab ibn Murrah ibn Ka’b ibn Lu’ayy ibn Ghaalib ibn Fahr ibn Maalik ibn al-Nadar ibn Kinaanah ibn Khuzaymah ibn Mudrikah ibn Ilyaas ibn Mudar ibn Nizaar ibn Ma’d ibn ‘Adnaan… ibn ‘Ismaa’eel [Ishmael] ibn Ibraaheem [Abraham] (peace be upon them). Allaah sent him as a Prophet at the age of forty, which is the age of perfection. The first sign of Prophethood which was sent to the Messenger of Allaah was dreams: he did not see any dream but it would come true like daybreak. It was said that that lasted for six months. The period of his Prophethood lasted for twenty-three years. These dreams were one of the forty-six parts of Prophethood. Then Allaah honoured him with Prophethood, and the angel came to him whilst he was in the cave of Hira’, where he used to love to go to be alone. The first words (of the Qur’aan) to be revealed to him were: “Read! In the Name of your Lord Who has created (all that exists)” [al-‘Alaq 96:1 – interpretation of the meaning] His message came in stages. Firstly, he was appointed as a Prophet; secondly, he warned his nearest kinsmen; thirdly, he warned his people; fourthly, he warned the people to whom no warner had ever come, namely all the Arabs; fifthly, he warned all those whom his message reached, both jinns and humans, until the end of time. After that (initial revelation), he spent three years calling people to Allaah in secret. Then the following words were revealed to him: “Therefore proclaim openly (Allaah’s Message Islamic Monotheism) that which you are commanded, and turn away from Al‑Mushrikoon (polytheists, idolaters, and disbeliever” [al-Hijr 15:94 – interpretation of the meaning] See Zaad al-Ma’aad by Ibn al-Qayyim, 1/71 Thirdly: With regard to the message to which our Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) called people, it is sufficient to quote what was said by Abu Sufyaan – who was a kaafir (disbeliever) at the time. Heraclius, the ruler of Byzantium, asked Abu Sufyaan, “What does he tell you to do?” Abu Sufyaan said: “He tells us to worship Allaah alone, not associating anything with Him, and he forbids us to worship that which our fathers used to worship. He commands us to pray, to give in charity, to be chaste, to keep our promises and fulfil our trusts.” Heraclius commented on Abu Sufyaan’s words by saying: “This is the description of a Prophet. I knew that he would appear, but I did not think that he would be from among you [the Arabs]. If you are indeed speaking the truth, then soon he will take possession of the place where my feet are standing. If I thought that I could meet him I would not hesitate to go to him, and if I were with him I would wash his feet.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 2782; Muslim, 1773). Fourthly: After the death of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), he was succeeded as khaleefah (leader of the Muslim community) by Abu Bakr al-Siddeeq, during whose time a number of major events took place: the dispatching of the army of Usaamah [to Syria]; the wars against the apostates (ahl al-riddah); fighting those who refused to pay the zakaah; the emergence of Musaylimah the liar [a false prophet]; and the compilation of the Qur’aan. Then came ‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab, who was one of the earliest Muslims, one of the ten whom the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) had testified would enter Paradise, one of the Rightly Guided Caliphs (al-khulafa’ al-raashideen), one of the in-laws of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), one of the greatest scholars and ascetics among the Sahaabah (the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)). Many conquests took place during his time, including the conquest of Damascus, Jordan, Iraq, Jerusalem and Egypt. He is the one who decided, in consultation with ‘Ali, that history should be dated from the time of the Hijrah (the migration of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) from Makkah to Madeenah). He was martyred in 23 AH by the kaafir Magian murderer Abu Lu’lu’ah. Then came ‘Uthmaan ibn ‘Affaan, who was also one of the ten whom the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) had testified would enter Paradise. He had also become Muslim in the earliest days. He was one of those whom Abu Bakr al-Siddeeq had called to Islam. He migrated twice, first to Abyssinia (Ethiopia) then to Madeenah. He married Ruqayyah the daughter of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), then she passed away and he married her sister Umm Kalthoom. He ruled as khaleefah for twelve years, then he was martyred in 35 AH at the age of eighty-odd. Then came ‘Ali ibn Abi Taalib, who was also one of the ten whom the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) had testified would enter Paradise. He was the brother of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) according to the system of brotherhood established when the muhaajiroon (migrants from Makkah) first came to Madeenah, and he was also the Prophet’s son-in-law as he married his daughter Faatimah, the best of all women (may Allaah be pleased with her). He was also one of the first people to become Muslim, one of the greatest scholars, bravest warriors, prominent ascetics and preachers. He was one of those who compiled the Qur’aan and showed it to the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). Fifthly: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was guided by the teachings of the Qur’aan, indeed his whole attitude was the Qur’aan as the Mother of the Believers ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) said. The way our Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was in Islam was the same as the way he had been before, but Allaah perfected his character and made it more beautiful. When the first revelation came, [his wife] Khadeejah (may Allaah be pleased with her) said, listing his attributes: “No, by Allaah, Allaah would never let you down. For you uphold ties of kinship, you help the weak, you give charity to the poor, you honour your guests and you help the deserving calamity-afflicted ones.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 4; Muslim, 160) Both his companions and his enemies described him in a befitting manner, as he (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) deserved, saying that he was honourable, brave, merciful, well-spoken, worshipped a great deal, was honest and trustworthy, and so on. This was all summed up in the verse: “And verily, you (O Muhammad) are on an exalted (standard of) character” [al-Qalam 68:4 – interpretation of the meaning] His good character and attitude had a great effect, as it was the reason for some of the mushrikeen (pagans, polytheists) coming to Islam. It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah said: “The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) sent some cavalry towards Najd, and they brought a man from Banu Haneefah whose name was Thamaamah ibn Athaal and tied him to one of the pillars of the mosque. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) came out and said, ‘Untie Thamaamah.’ Then he (Thamaamah) went to grove of palm trees near the mosque and washed himself (did ghusl), then he entered the mosque and said, ‘I bear witness that there is no god except Allaah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allaah.’” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 4114; Muslim, 1764). Sixthly: With regard to Islam reaching Europe, it did so in several ways, including the following: 1 – The keenness of the Muslims to convey the truth to all of mankind. Andalusia [in Spain] was conquered by Taariq ibn Ziyaad in 92 AH/711 CE, and the conquests in western Europe continued until they reached southeastern France in 114 AH. 2 – People coming from North Africa, the Middle East and South Asia to look for work and a better future. 3 – Westerners bringing some people from other countries, such as the Germans bringing Turks, to work in their country. 4 – The presence of Muslim daa’iyahs (callers, “missionaries”) in those countries. 5 – The conquests of the Ottoman state of part of Europe. 6 – The conversion of some indigenous Europeans to Islam, who then began to propagate Islam. 7 – Trade links between Muslims and Europe. 8 – Conversion of some Europeans to Islam. 9 – Changes in the European intellectual approaches. 10 – Rejection of the church myths which contradict revelation and the adoption of empirical knowledge whose foundation was laid by the Muslims. 11 – Participation of Muslim communities in the development of research, inventions and companies in Europe, through the work of qualified Muslim professionals, plus the increase in the number of Muslim communities in Europe, which resulted in the increase in the number of mosques, schools and Islamic centers. This has resulted in increased Muslim influence, to the extent that the enemies of Islam such as the Jews are scared. ignore.... history of basketball? Basketball was invented in December 1891 by the Canadian clergyman, educator, and physician James Naismith. Naismith introduced the game when we was an instructor at the Young Men's Christian Association Training School (now Springfield College) in Springfield, Massachusetts. At the request of his superior, Dr. Luther H. Gulick, he organized a vigorous recreation suitable for indoor winter play. The game involved elements of American football, soccer, and hockey, and the first ball used was a soccer ball. Teams had nine players, and the goals were wooden peach baskets affixed to the walls. By 1897-1898, teams of five became standard. The game rapidly spread nationwide and to Canada and other parts of the world, played by both women and men; it also became a popular informal outdoor game. U.S. servicemen in World War II (1939-1945) popularized the sport in many other countries. A number of U.S. colleges adopted the game between about 1893 and 1895. In 1934 the first college games were staged in New York City's Madison Square Garden, and college basketball began to attract heightened interest. By the 1950s basketball had become a major college sport, thus paving the way for a growth of interest in professional basketball. The first pro league, the National Basketball League, was formed in 1898 to protect players from exploitation and to promote a less rough game. This league only lasted five years before disbanding; its demise spawned a number of loosely organized leagues throughout the northeastern United States. One of the first and greatest pro teams was the Original Celtics, organized about 1915 in New York City. They played as many as 150 games a season and dominated basketball until 1936. The Harlem Globetrotters, founded in 1927, a notable exhibition team, specializes in amusing court antics and expert ball handling. In 1949 two subsequent professional leagues, the National Basketball League (formed in 1937) and the Basketball Association of America (1946) merged to create the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Boston Celtics, led by their center Bill Russell, dominated the NBA from the late 1950s through the 1960s. By the 1960s, pro teams from coast to coast played before crowds of many millions annually. Wilt Chamberlain, a center for the Los Angeles Lakers, was another leading player during the era, and his battles with Russell were eagerly anticipated. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, also a center, came to prominence during the 1970s. Jabbar perfected his famed "sky hook" shot while playing for the Los Angeles Lakers and dominated the opposition. The NBA suffered a drop in popularity during the late 1970s, but was resuscitated, principally through the growing popularity of its most prominent players. Larry Bird of the Boston Celtics, and Magic Johnson of the Los Angeles Lakers are credited with injecting excitement into the league in the 1980s through their superior skills and decade-long rivalry. During the late 1980s Michael Jordan of the Chicago Bulls rose to stardom and helped the Bulls dominate the NBA during the early 1990s. A new generation of basketball stars, including Shaquille O'Neal of the Orlando Magic and Larry Johnson of the Charlotte Hornets, have sustained the NBA's growth in popularity. Only Cleveland will have made as many trips to Reliant Stadium as Kansas City will have by the end of the 2007 season. The Texans will be looking to even the all-time series with Kansas City at two wins apiece and will look to avenge one of the most lopsided losses in franchise history. The Chiefs enjoyed their last trip to Houston in 2005, handing the Texans a 45-17 loss behind 211 rushing yards and two touchdowns from Larry Johnson. 2 Sept. 16 Carolina (8-8, 4-4 home) vs. Texans 0-1 As with the Atlanta Falcons, Houston has defeated Carolina at Reliant Stadium, but will venture on the road against the Panthers for the first time ever in Week 2. The Texans enter 2007 with a 2-2 record all-time against the NFC South, playing each team twice. Depending on Carolina’s quarterback situation, the game could also mark Panthers’ quarterback David Carr’s first game against the team that drafted him first overall in the 2002 NFL Draft. 3 Sept. 23 INDIANAPOLIS (12-4, 4-4 road) vs. Texans 9-1 The Texans claimed their first ever win over the Colts last season at Reliant Stadium. In fact, Houston enters the 2007 season as the last team to beat the Colts, who went on to win Super Bowl XVI after faltering against the Texans late in December last year. It will mark the second time in franchise history that the Texans have faced the defending Super Bowl champion. Houston faced Tampa Bay in 2003, a year after the Buccaneers won Super Bowl XXXVII. 4 Sept. 30 Atlanta (7-9, 3-5 home) vs. Texans 0-1 The Texans will be looking to raise their record to 2-0 all-time against the Falcons when Houston travels to Atlanta in Week 4. The game will be Texans’ quarterback Matt Schaub’s first against his former team. While Schaub is quite familiar with the Georgia Dome, the Texans are not as the game will be the first for Houston in Atlanta in franchise history. 5 Oct. 7 MIAMI (6-10, 2-6 road) vs. Texans 0-2 The Texans will be looking for their third consecutive win over the Dolphins when Miami travels to Houston on Oct. 7. Interestingly enough, Houston’s two previous wins over the Dolphins have been the first wins respectively of the 2003 and 2006 seasons. It’s unlikely that will be the case this fall. Houston defeated Miami last season at Reliant Stadium, 17-15, to give Gary Kubiak his first win as an NFL head coach. 6 Oct. 14 Jacksonville (8-8, 2-6 road, 6-2 home) vs. Texans 4-6 The Jaguars went 6-2 at home last season, but one of those losses came at the hands of the Texans who had one of their more impressive defensive showings of the 2006 season at Alltel Stadium The Texans led the whole way, racing out to a 10-0 lead and holding on for a 13-10 win. Houston collected four turnovers, all interceptions from Jaguars quarterback David Garrard. 7 Oct. 21 TENNESSEE (8-8, 4-4 road, 4-4 home) vs. Texans 8-2 Houston and Tennessee have yet to split a season series. The Texans swept the season series in 2004, but have lost every other game played against the Titans in franchise history, including a 26-20 overtime loss at Reliant Stadium last year. 8 Oct. 28 San Diego (14-2, 8-0 home) vs. Texans 2-0 The Texans will be looking for their first win in franchise history against the Chargers when they travel to San Diego in Week 8. These two teams last met in 2004, a 27-20 triumph by the Chargers in Houston. 9 Nov. 4 Oakland (2-14, 2-6 home) vs. Texans 0-2 Houston will spend a second consecutive week on the left coast when they travel to Oakland in Week 9. The Texans have never lost to the Raiders and will be looking for wins in consecutive seasons after defeating Oakland last year in a defensive exhibition by both teams in the Black Hole. 11 Nov. 18 NEW ORLEANS (10-6, 6-2 road) vs. Texans 1-0 The Texans will face the Saints for the first time since the 2003 season when New Orleans heads to Houston on Nov. 18. The Saints were one of the best road teams in the NFL a year ago and fell just one game short of a Super Bowl appearance in head coach Sean Payton’s first season at the helm. Houston will be looking to even the all-time series at one after falling to the Saints in ’03, 31-10, at the Super Dome. The game will also feature the top two picks in the 2006 NFL Draft in Mario Williams and Reggie Bush. 12 Nov. 25 Cleveland (4-12, 2-6 home) vs. Texans 2-2 The Texans will face Cleveland for the fifth time in franchise history on Nov.25, more than any other team outside the AFC South. Houston defeated the Browns at Reliant Stadium in 2006 to end its season with a win for the first time in team history. A win over Cleveland in 2007 would be a third consecutive triumph over the Browns as the Texans defeated Cleveland 19-16 in 2005 at Reliant Stadium. 13 Dec. 2 Tennessee (8-8, 4-4 road, 4-4 home) vs. Texans 8-2 Turnovers killed the Texans last season in Nashville and Houston will be looking to avenge a loss in 2007 after thoroughly beating Tennessee in nearly every major statistical category a year ago. The Texans fell 28-22 to Tennessee at LP Field in their last visit to Music City, falling behind 21-3 before Sage Rosenfels led a valiant second-half comeback that fell just short. The Texans defeated the Buccaneers last season in preseason action, but lost to Tampa Bay 16-3 at Raymond James Stadium in 2003 in the only regular season meeting between these two teams. 15 Dec. 13 DENVER (9-7, 5-3 road) vs. Texans 1-0 The Texans will be looking for their first ever win over the Broncos when Denver heads to Reliant Stadium on Dec. 13 for a prime time matchup. The two teams have only met once previously, a 31-13, win for the Broncos in Denver during the 2004 season. Plenty of storylines go along with this matchup which is probably why NFL Network has decided to broadcast the game to a national audience. Gary Kubiak will be facing his mentor, Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan, for the first time in the regular season. However, Shanahan will also be coaching against his son, Kyle, who is the Texans quarterbacks coach. Houston’s roster is also littered with former Broncos so while these teams have met just once previously in the regular season, they will be quite familiar with one another when they take the field in mid-December. 16 Dec. 23 Indianapolis (12-4, 4-4 road) vs. Texans 9-1 One last chance to claim a win at RCA Dome. Houston is 0-5 in Indy against the Colts, who will be moving into a new home prior to the 2008 season. 17 Dec. 30 JACKSONVILLE (8-8, 2-6 road) vs. Texans 4-6 If the Texans are to make the playoffs for the first time in team history, a berth may come down to a matchup with their biter rival. The Texans have historically had the Jaguars number during their brief history. Hastings, Uk..whats a gal to do?!!? Im going on a little trip to Hastings next month for a few nights of relative comfort in one of those super-de-duper caravan parks. Its one of the parks which is very much family orientated (but was such a bargain!) and as I havent been there for years, was wondering if someone can give me some advice on things to do and see? Ive heard theres a new aquarium, not not sure if its open yet? Also, I remember going to some really cool 1066 exhibition..
