What do you think about Saturday or Sunday being the Sabbath? The Sabbath is Saturday?

- What if the first day ever was actually a Tuesday?
- To me, this is a "letter of the law - spirit of the law" debate. If following the letter of the law is paramount to you, then good luck with your quest to determine if you should recognize Sat or Sun as your Sabbath. Personally, I don't believe there is a way to conclusively resolve this debate. However, I am usually more concerned with the Spirit of the Law. God ordained one day out of seven as a sacred day to rest and worship - essentially a day to dedicate to Him. As long as you take a day each week and dedicate it to worship and rest as God commanded, I don't believe the specific day it falls on is all that important. If one person honors Saturday as the Sabbath, another honors Sunday, and another Tuesday, is God going to save one and damn the other two because they weren't doing it on Sunday - or whichever day is the "right" day? I don't think so.
- What does the Bible say? The Sabbath is the 7th day of the week, which is Saturday... HOWEVER: True Christians do not observe the Sabbath. Jesus replaced the Law of Moses(sacrificing animals, not eating pork, etc) including the 10 commadments, with the new superior Christian law: Romans 10:4 For Christ is the end of the Law, so that everyone exercising faith may have righteousness. Romans 7:6 But now we have been discharged from the Law, because we have died to that by which we were being held fast, that we might be slaves in a new sense by the spirit, and not in the old sense by the written code. Clossians 2:14 [God kindly forgave us all our trespasses] and blotted out the handwritten document against us, which consisted of decrees and which was in opposition to us; and He has taken it out of the way by nailing it to the torture stake. Matthew 22:36-40 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” He said to him: “‘You must love Jehovah your God with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole mind.’ This is the greatest and first commandment. 39 The second, like it, is this, ‘You must love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments the whole Law hangs, and the Prophets.” Colossians 2:16,17 Therefore let no man judge you in eating and drinking or in respect of a festival or of an observance of the new moon or of a sabbath; for those things are a shadow of the things to come, but the reality belongs to the Christ. (((Notice the specific mention of Christians not celebrating the Sabbath!))) WHY DID GOD ISSUE 10 COMMANDMENTS? As a memorial of coming out of Egyptian slavery for JEWS (Isrealites) ONLY: Deuteronomy 5:15 And you must remember that you became a slave in the land of Egypt and Jehovah your God proceeded to bring you out from there with a strong hand and an outstretched arm. That is why Jehovah your God commanded you to carry on the sabbath day. Exodus 13:16,17 And the sons of Israel must keep the sabbath, so as to carry out the sabbath during their generations. It is a covenant to time indefinite. Between me and the sons of Israel it is a sign to time indefinite, because in six days Jehovah made the heavens and the earth and on the seventh day he rested and proceeded to refresh himself.’” The Law taught the Isrealites that they had sin and needed a ransom (Jesus' Ransom): Galatians 3:19-25 Why, then, the Law? It was added to make transgressions manifest, until the seed should arrive to whom the promise had been made; and it was transmitted through angels by the hand of a mediator. Now there is no mediator where only one person is concerned, but God is only one. Is the Law, therefore, against the promises of God? May that never happen! For if a law had been given that was able to give life, righteousness would actually have been by means of law. But the Scripture delivered up all things together to the custody of sin, that the promise resulting from faith toward Jesus Christ might be given to those exercising faith. However, before the faith arrived, we were being guarded under law, being delivered up together into custody, looking to the faith that was destined to be revealed. Consequently the Law has become our tutor leading to Christ, that we might be declared righteous due to faith. But now that the faith has arrived, we are no longer under a tutor. Hebrews 10:1 For since the Law has a shadow of the good things to come, but not the very substance of the things, [men] can never with the same sacrifices from year to year which they offer continually make those who approach perfect Romans 7:7 What, then, shall we say? Is the Law sin? Never may that become so! Really I would not have come to know sin if it had not been for the Law; and, for example, I would not have known covetousness if the Law had not said: “You must not covet.” ((((Notice the Bible uses an example from the 10 commandments... the 10th to be exact)))). - The Sabbath day is the seventh day of the week, Saturday. The observance to remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy was part of the Law of Moses, the Old Testament. In the New Testament, there is no command to observe the Sabbath. Instead, Christians in the New Testament met upon "the first day of the week". (Acts 20:7, 1 Cor. 16:1-2) In fact, the Old Law was nailed to the cross with Christ. (Colossians 2:14) This being the case, the New Testament states, "Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to... a Sabbath.." (Colossians 2:16) Remember the Sabbath is part of the Old Testament. We can learn a lot from a study of the Old Testament, but for instructions on how to worship and serve God we now need to look to the New Testament. In Galatians 5, some were trying to bind an Old Testament command on New Testament Christians. Verse 3 says if they bound this one item, they were "debtor to keep the whole Law"! If we bind one command because it is in the Old testament, we must keep it all (animal sacrifices, feasts, yearly trips to Jerusalem, etc.)! "For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all." (James 2:10) If we try to Justify ourselves by the Law of Moses, then we have fallen from grace! (Gal. 5:4) The New Testament now gives the instructions for our worship. The examples in the New Testament show Sunday worship. Sunday, however, is never called the Sabbath in the Bible, but we are not under the Law that commanded the Sabbath.
