As a painter based in nigeria, how do i get involved in international exhibitions?
Public Comments
- It will be very difficult for anyone from Nigeria to be trusted and respected in the international community. Unfortunately, based on the actions of a few disreputable Nigerians perpetrating "419 scams" (advance fee scams), "Nigerian" has become synonymous with "scammer" in the minds of many people in other countries. So, there may be a presumption that your artwork is something that you are trying to smuggle out of Nigeria because it is worth millions and you'd be willing to share a portion of those millions with anyone who would help you, but you'd need them to send you money to help get the process started. I wish you luck in overcoming those unfortunate stereotypes and getting involved in international exhibitions as a legitimate painter.
- Simply join ArtWanted. It is easy to use and free to join and you will get the initial exposure you need. 20,000 artists post their works there and I am getting over 300 hits a day on my stuff without having added any new work for months. http://www.artwanted.com/artist.cfm?ArtID=31019&SubGal=Oil Its a start!
